The Annual Chairman Fred Hampton Streetz Party
(Chicago, Illinois) – August 29, 2019 – The annual Chairman Fred Streetz Party is being held in commemoration of Illinois Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton on what would have been his 71st birthday.
Deputy Chairman of the Illinois Chapter of The Black Panther Party, Fred Hampton, was born on August 30, 1948. He was raised in the Chicago neighborhood of Maywood, Illinois. In 1968 he joined The Black Panther Party (BPP), headquartered in Oakland, California. Under Chairman’s leadership, programs such as The Free Breakfast Program, which fed thousands of children every week, medical programs, which provided the nations first sickle cell anemia testing programs and laid the foundation for government research on sickle cell disease. Additionally, transportation programs provided access for individuals to and from prisons for visiting loved ones and encouraging self-determination. 

On Friday, August 30, 2019 The People’s Press Conference will commence at 2337 West Monroe, Chicago, Illinois at 11:45 AM and a Silent Salute at 12:00 Noon. A tour will be conducted by the December 4th Committee Chair, Akua Njeri, widow of Chairman Fred Hampton and survivor of December 4 Massacre On Monroe. Come prepared for The Great March To the Wall (Northeast Corner Madison & California, at 1:15 pm; followed by the Streetz Party at the wall 2:00 pm.
 At 7:00 pm meet us at The Hampton House located on 804 South 17th Avenue in Maywood, Illinois for speakers and a tour of The Hampton House. Saturday August 31, 2019 at 2:00pm join us for a Community Street Party.
As it was in life, it remains in legacy, the attack on the struggle for self-determination.
How was The Black Panther Party an internal threat? By providing the first Free Breakfast Programs, Free Medical Clinics and many other survival programs which provided vehicles for the people to fight in their own interests. Chairman Fred Hampton organized the original Rainbow Coalition that brought people across diverse racial, political gender and class interests, to fight together on specific points of unity.
